With two men on and no outs, catcher Carlos Perez started a 2-4-3 triple play to help the Class A Lugnuts get out of the inning unharmed. Lansing went on to defeat Dayton, 4-2, to improve to 6-0 against the Dragons this season.

Dayton's Juan Perez led off the sixth against Lugnuts starter Marcus Walden, reaching on a fielding error by shortstop Shane Opitz. After Brandon Dailey walked, Ryan Wright popped up a bunt attempt with the runners going. Lansing's Perez caught the ball and threw to second baseman Jonathan Berti for the second out, while Bertis relayed the ball to first baseman K.C. Hobson to finish off the feat.

The triple play is the first turned in the Midwest League this year and only the fourth completed in the past six seasons on the circuit.

Walden (3-1) allowed just two hits over six scoreless frames en route to the win. He struck out two and walked two as he lowered his ERA to 2.15.

Lansing reliever Aleson Escalante gave up two runs on three hits in the seventh as Dayton's Josef Terry hit an RBI double and Yovan Gonzalez recorded a run-scoring single.

Brandon Berl tossed a scoreless eighth for the Lugnuts, while Ajay Meyer closed the door in the ninth to tally his league-leading 13th save.

Outfielder Kenny Wilson led Lansing's offense by going 2-for-4 with a two-run homer. Berti doubled, walked twice and drove in a run.
